Kirsten Perrins (She/Her)

Clinical Director, Registered Psychologist (Clinical Registrar), AuDHD

Kirsten is a sensitive, empathic, and compassionate therapist, who works from a position of neurodivergent lived-experience when supporting clients. She works alongside trainee therapy dog Atka to provide neuroaffirming assessment and support. Kirsten is playful, quirky, and loves to involve toys, fidgets and squishmallows into her work!  She worked as a Chartered Accountant for 15 years, before realising her passion to help others.

Kirsten undertook a Graduate Diploma Psychology, and Graduate Diploma Psychology Advanced at Monash University, before completing a Master of Clinical Psychology at Swinburne University. She is currently engaged two-years of additional training and supervision, working towards Clinical endorsement (hopefully to be achieved in 2026). Kirsten is passionate about supporting clients to cultivate safety, self-compassion and self-acceptance.

Kirsten is also engaged in research, tutoring and guest lecturing as a Sessional Academic and Research Assistant at Swinburne University. She is currently a PhD student at Swinburne, undertaking research focused upon embedding neuroaffirming practice into psychology training.

When Kirsten does get some down time you can find her hanging out in nature, cuddling ducks and chickens, re-watching her favourite TV shows (Big Bang Theory, Heated Rivalry and The Pitt are current God-tier shows), or jigsaw puzzling to satisfy her love of pattern recognition. She also loves to read and will frequently be found soaking  up information related to social justice, current affairs and politics.

Kirsten's specific areas of interest include autism, attentional and executive functioning differences (ADHD), relational and interpersonal trauma, and eating disorders, difficulties and differences. Her work is person-centred and primarily  from a trauma-informed, attachment-focused, narrative and neuroaffirming perspective.

Clio (She/Her)

Office & Administrative Coordinator

Clio is the Office and Administrative Coordinator at The Burrows, assisting in the day-to-day running of the practice. Currently in her fourth-year of study, she came to psychology through a deep and abiding fascination with the way people think and behave, and is motivated by a real desire to put that understanding to work for others. Clio has a particular interest in executive functioning quirks and differences, and loves helping people find solutions that actually work for them.

In her previous life, Clio was a cheesemonger, and will still wax lyrically at length about milk, grassy pastures, goats and mountains. Please feel free to ask her questions about cheese any time, day or night, she will answer the cheese-cave phone. Clio is, by her own assessment, a well-meaning chaos agent navigating life with equal parts sincerity and bewilderment. Most of her endeavours began either as a whim or because something happened to be directly in front of her at the time, a decision making strategy she stands by, partially out of conviction and partially because it's too late to change now. Clio could be described as curious, enthusiastic, genuinely sincere, and slightly clumsy.

When not working or studying, she can be found wandering purposefully toward something she's already forgotten about, standing in doorways, or consuming vast quantities of podcasts, film, and television. Clio loves space facts, strange corners of the internet, and aspires to be a reliable source of strange and wonderful information that no one knew they needed. The great love of her life is her dog (pictured). Her partner is aware of this and has been assured he is a very strong second.

Clio is positively chuffed to be part of the Burrows!

Atka (He/Him)

Chief Wellbeing Officer & Trainee Therapy Dog

Atka is a 4 year-old Alaskan Malamute X Husky who works alongside Kirsten at The Burrows. He continues his Therapy Dog Training in 2026 with the Lead The Way Institute , and you might find him pushing up against you in session, or giving you a big heavy cuddle once he gets to know you.

Atka loves belly rubs, and tickles under his chin, and we're sure he thinks he is a pomeranian, as he likes to come and lay on your knee given the opportunity!

Fun fact - Atka has an extra toe!

Tikaani (He/Him)

Director of Barketing

Tikaani is the younger of our two rescue huskies. This cheeky little man can be selective about who he makes friends with, and tends to prefer spending time 'back of house', helping with billing and admin, and ensuring the treat cupboard is fully stocked.

Although Tikaani doesn't join us in session, you might see him on your arrival, where he'll happily take a liver treat. Just remember to ask him for a paw first!

Lilo (She/Her)

Canine Executive Officer

Lilo is a 7 year-old husky. Whilst not a trained therapy animal, she enjoys spending time in session, and will often be found lounging in a chair, or at your feet asking for tickles. She is extremely affectionate, and loves the company of all humans!

Lilo's favourite thing is running around with Atka and Tikaani, and snoozing on the sofa. 2025 was a big year for Lilo, as she had two surgeries on her CCLs (dog equivalent of her ACLs), and spent early 2026  resting and healing. She's now back to her rambunctious, bouncy self!

Once Lilo gets to know you, this little pocket rocket becomes a furry cuddle monster!

Chicken Flock

Quality & Assurance Committee

Our small flock of Isa Brown chickens are a beautiful pair of girls; Wanda, and Natasha. They enjoy scratching around their coop, sitting on your leg/shoulder, and foraging for bugs.

Once they trust you, they enjoy a stroke of their feathers, and might even hop up to be held.

Spending time with the ladies helps remind us of the importance of communication, watching out for each other, and can improve mental health.

Muscovy Ducks

People & Culture Committee

Our flock of Muscovy ducks came to The Burrows in 2023. Starting out with just a few birds, our flock successfully grew with two clutches of ducklings hatching in early summer 2024. 2025 was quiet without any ducklings, but in early 2026our amazing Mama birds sucessfully hatched and raised another nine ducklings!  Muscovies are very quiet compared to other breeds of duck, and often communicate using non-verbal body language like head bobbing, tail wagging, or wing flapping.

Our Muscovies love to take some watermelon, lettuce or peas from you, and might even ask for a chest rub or cuddle when they feel completely safe and relaxed.
